Simple Swedish cabin in traditional style near Virestad, Sweden

Arnanäs Vilhelm 1

Set within the landscape of the Kronoberg region, this simple Swedish cabin is surrounded by open fields, stone walls and quiet rural scenery. In its original use, it reflects what is commonly known in Sweden as a torp — a modest rural dwelling — or a basic holiday home.

Dating back to around 1900, the cabin retains much of its original character. Inside, wooden floors, older doors and a traditional wood-burning stove define the atmosphere. The overall standard remains simple and close to its original condition.

The building is arranged over one and a half storeys and offers a compact layout with living space, kitchen and one to two bedrooms. Additional space is available in the attic.

A former glazed veranda has been converted into a basic sanitary area. A conventional wastewater system is not in place.

Several smaller outbuildings are located on the property, including storage spaces and a separate outdoor structure.

The plot combines garden areas with more natural sections and is easy to maintain.

The surrounding area is characterised by open countryside, forests and smaller lakes. A swimming spot can be reached by bicycle, while everyday amenities are available in the nearby village of Liatorp.
